This new platform will have the complete content library of both the OTT platforms and more. Apart from all the movies and shows from the two entities, this new platform will also host content from different international studios and platforms. The JV has also announced a free tier for this streaming service. This JioStar joint venture was formed in November 2024 after the successful merger of Star India and Viacom18.

The added that there are subscription plans for those “looking for an uninterrupted and enhanced experience.” This likely means that paying subscribers will not be shown ads, and they can stream the shows at a higher resolution.

Next, coming to the subscriptions, the existing subscribers of Disney+Hotstar and JioCinema will be automatically transitioned to the new platform. The company has also said that these users will be able to set up their JioHotsar subscriptions when they will be logging into the app for the first time.
