iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 Update Starts Rolling Out With Apple Intelligence: Details

Apple has released the fifth developer beta of iOS 18.1, bringing a range of new features and improvements to the upcoming update. One of the key highlights of this beta is the enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities, which aim to provide users with more personalized and relevant experiences. Check all details.

On Monday, compatible iPhone models started to receive the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 update. With the addition of new toggles in the Control Center and the ability to restore its layout to the original iOS configuration, it expands on the features that Apple first released in the developer and public beta versions. With new ways to quickly respond to chats and retrieve message summaries, Apple Intelligence, the company's suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features, is now accessible on the Messages app.

One of the standout features of the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 update is Apple Intelligence in Messages. iPhone users taking part in the latest version's beta testing will be able to see a summary of each unread conversation. Thanks to a recent addition known as smart replies, they can choose an appropriate quick response to messages in the interim.

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant has added a specific Apple Intelligence option to the Notes app. With the update, users can now use AI-powered writing tools, such as rewriting and proofreading, without having to first select the text and then choose the writing tools option from the floating menu.

New dedicated toggles that can be added to the Control Center are another feature of the update. Toggles for VPN and Wi-Fi are among them. Users can reset the Control Center layout using a new setting by going to Settings and then Control Center. This is useful if they don't like their personalized layout.

With the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5 update, Apple has also increased the number of Rich Communication Services (RCS) messages that are available. Telenet, Proximus, and BASE in Belgium, as well as TracFone and C Spire in the US, are now supported by it. Users will now be able to drag and drop files between devices when using iPhone mirroring with a Mac, which will enhance interoperability. Nevertheless, in order to utilize this feature, the Mac and iPhone must be running macOS Sequioa 15.1 and iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 5, respectively.

Additional improvements include a revised Apple Watch app icon, a new dark mode icon for Apple Intelligence in settings, and additional UI (user interface) modifications.
