OnePlus Open Apex Edition Launched With an Upgraded Storage Version: Details
OnePlus Open, the first foldable phone from OnePlus, has got a new Apex edition that comes in a fresh shade of Crimson Shadow and an upgraded storage of up to 1TB. The new OnePlus Open Apex Edition smartphone is selling at a price of Rs 1,49,999 for the base 16GB RAM and 1TB of on-board storage space. The new edition is comparatively expensive than the standard model which was launched last year. The latter comes in 16GB RAM + 512GB storage configuration priced at Rs 1,39,999. The new OnePlus Open Apex Edition will be available for sale in India starting from August 10 onwards on the company’s official website, OnePlus Experience Stores, e-commerce platform Amazon and select retail outlets.
Additionally, as a part of the introductory offers, customers can avail an instant discount of Rs 20,000 on ICICI Bank cards as well as an exchange bonus of up to Rs 8000 on trade-in deals for the OnePlus Open Apex Edition.
OnePlus Open Apex Edition: New Upgrades
Along with the new Crimson Shadow paint job, the new OnePlus Apex Edition has got a vegan leather back cover and orange accents on the Alert Slider. In addition to the aesthetic changes, the latest offering from the OnePlus packs 1TB (UFS 4.0) on-board storage and a dedicated security chip which has been certified for Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 5+ (CC EAL 5+). There is also a Near Field Communication (NFC) security chip with the CC EAL6+ certification. The handset also gets a new VIP mode which can be enabled through the Alert Slider to disable all microphones and cameras on the smartphone.
Moreover, the latest model also gets generative AI integration like AI Eraser and AI Smart Cutout tools for image editing. AI Eraser is likely to work as Google Pixel's magic eraser allowing users to remove unwanted objects from their image, while the AI Smart Cutout will let users select a section of an image and create custom stickers and more. Other features including display, camera and others will remain same as the standard OnePlus Open.
OnePlus Open: Features
It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip coupled with an Adreno 740 GPU, 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Open runs on Android 13-based OxygenOS 13.2 out-of-the-box.
For photography, the OnePlus Open comes with a Hasselblad-branded triple camera setup led by a 48-megapixel Sony LYT-T808 primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS). There is also a 64-megapixel 3X telephoto camera with an OmniVision OV64B sensor, and a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 ultra-wide-angle camera. For selfies, it houses a 20-megapixel front camera on the inner display and a 32-megapixel camera on the cover display.
The handset is backed by a dual-cell 4,800mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC charging support via USB Type-C.
