Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that aims to enhance user experience and accessibility: voice note transcripts. This innovative feature allows users to convert voice notes into text, making it easier to review, search, and understand the content. Here are all details that you need to know.

Meta-owned WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature - Voice message transcripts globally, allowing all users to covert voice messages into text. While announcing the availability of the new feature, it says "to help you keep up with conversations no matter what you're doing." Over the next few weeks, transcripts will be made available worldwide in a limited number of languages. The company intends to add more languages in the upcoming months.

WhatsApp claimed in a blog post that voice messaging adds a personal touch to communication with friends and family. Hearing your loved one's voice, even if they live far away, is a unique experience. However, there are instances when you're moving, in a noisy environment, or you get a lengthy voicemail that you simply can't stop to listen to," the social media company continued.

It also added, "We're excited to introduce voice message transcripts" for those times. To ensure that no one else, not even WhatsApp, can hear or read your private messages, transcripts are created on users' device ensuring that voice messages remain end-to-end encrypted. Here's how you can use it.

WhatsApp Voice Note Transcript Feature: How to Use

To turn voice messages into text, users must enable the Voice Transcript feature in the settings, as it is disabled by default. Here's a step-by-step guide to do so

1) Tap on Chats after opening WhatsApp's settings.

2) Toggle Voice Message Transcripts by scrolling down.

3) From the list of available languages, pick your favorite.

4) To activate the feature, download the necessary language package. To finish the process, tap Set Up Now.

5) Once the feature is enabled, long-press the voice message that needs to be turned into text, then select "Transcribe."

Notably, the Voice Transcript feature is initially only available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.
