iOS 184 Rolling Out Brings Visual Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro Details
Apple iOS 18.4
On Monday, Apple launched the much-awaited iOS 18.4 update for iPhone. It expands the range of Apple Intelligence features, which include Priority Notifications and the presence of Visual Intelligence on the iPhone 15 Pro models. With the update, the technology giant from Cupertino also broadens its AI offerings to encompass India and other areas, removing the requirement to set the device and Siri language to English (US) for feature access. The update includes new features, new toggles in the Control Centre, new emojis, and an app for customizing the Apple Vision Pro functionalities.

iOS 18.4 Update for iPhone: Availability
Apple states that the iOS 18.4 update broadens Apple Intelligence functionalities by adding support for Chinese (Simplified), English (India, Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish languages. Therefore, iPhone users in India can now utilize the AI features without needing to alter the device language.

iOS 18.4 Update for iPhone: Details

An important new feature included in the update is the introduction of Visual Intelligence support for the iPhone 15 Pro models. First launched with the iPhone 16 models in September, it serves as a visual lookup feature that utilizes Apple Intelligence to assist users in swiftly discovering information about objects and locations. It is capable of summarizing text, translating it across languages, and recognizing phone numbers or email addresses to include them in contacts. Additionally, users have the option to activate web search to find a product they appreciate, resolve a math problem, or just request ChatGPT to supply additional information.

Although this feature utilizes the new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 series, users of the iPhone 15 Pro might be able to activate it through the Action button and a specific Control Centre toggle.

Expanding on the earlier announcement, the iOS 18.4 update brings an Apple Vision Pro app for iPhone. It allows users to download applications and games for the Vision Pro from the App Store, explore movies and shows designed for the mixed reality (MR) headset, receive tips, and obtain additional information. Apple has introduced a new feature known as Review Summaries. True to its name, it gathers insights from individual reviews posted by users on an app or game on the App Store to form an all-encompassing summary, allowing others to rapidly understand the app without needing to scroll through the full list.

An additional feature is the new switches for two current functions — communicating with Siri and Visual Intelligence. At the same time, the company launches an Ambient mode switch that allows users to listen to ambient soundscapes in the background. With iOS 18.4, the Apple News+ app displays recipes from international recipe publishers along with a catalog that users can explore to discover the ideal dish. The Image Playground app now offers Sketch as a new style choice in addition to animation and illustration.
